Tidal Basalt Rocks

Woven in Iceland during my summer residency at the Blonduós Textile Centre, each artwork is a hand woven snapshot of the seascapes and landscapes which surrounded me. 
Hand-spun Icelandic wool weft yarns create a feeling of movement and texture, whilst the intricate woven structures blend to depict images from the dramatic environment. 
A unique capsule collection combining technology, heritage craft and a material connection to place.
This piece was inspired a photograph of sea worn basalt rocks on Hofsös beach, just before they were covered by the incoming tide.
