FAQ

  • What are the Arra Textiles Studio opening times?
The Studio is open by appointment year round. If you would like to visit the studio please do get in touch.
  • Where are you based?
My studio is in Aberdeen at Deemouth Artist Studios. More details on how to visit can be found on the 'Contact' page.
  • Do you run private workshops?
Yes, private workshops are available for either 1-2-1 or groups of up to four for the table looms and up to 14 for the frame looms.
  • Do you take commissions?
Commissioning an artwork can be the perfect option when you're looking for something that is a little more personal. I specialise in handwoven landscapes and seascapes which blend traditional tapestry techniques with contemporary patterning but I’m also open to projects which are a little more abstract. Designs will always have my distinctive style and colour sense but can be as subtle, bold, contemporary or traditional as needed! I have a number of commissions lined up for 2023 but please feel free to get in touch to discuss any options regarding your project or to be added to the waiting list.
  • Where can I read testemonials from past customers?
Find a few quotes from past and present clients below; "Beautifully lightweight and warm for when the evenings begin to draw in" - Bespoke Wave Throw Etta, Scotland "I wear my scarf everyday in the winter, I just love it!" - Bespoke Cashmere Scarf Ruth, Scotland "I just recieved my Ripple Cowl in Stonewash and I cannot describe just how thrilled and in awe of it I am!! The colors are right out of the river near my house here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, a river I hold dear in my heart and those colors are the very esence of my soul!" - Ripple Cowl Scarf in Stonewash Kimberly, North Carolina USA
  • Can I do an internship with your studio?
I'm not currently able to offer internships or work experience but I have had visits from school and textile students in the past. I am also happy to answer any textile related questions through the blog!
  • Can I pay in installments?
Yes! Weaving is a time consuming and complex craft and as such can result in pieces which have a higher end price point. I want my work to be as accessible as I can make it and am delighted to be able to offer payment plans to spread out the cost for any piece over £150. Once you have chosen a piece which you love, contact me with the following information or pop into the studio: 1. The name of the piece and colour-way if applicable (sometimes a screenshot can be helpful!) 2. The number of months you’d like to spread the cost out over (the minimum monthly payment is £100) 3. Your contact details I’ll email a confirmation of the details to you then send an invoice for the first payment. As soon as the first invoice has been paid and the terms agreed to in writing a monthly invoice (payable within 7 days) will be sent until the full cost of the piece is paid. Once the cost has been paid in full (including any shipping costs) your piece will sent out, delivered to you or will be ready to be picked up from the studio. If payments are stopped or cancelled before the piece has been paid in full for any reason, any payments already made will be non-refundable. You will be able to apply them to an alternative piece equal in value to the amount paid at that point. If you’d like anymore information or to discuss a payment plan contact me at lucy@arratextiles.co.uk or visit the studio. Payment Plans are also available for any commissioned pieces and are interest free with no added surcharges to the cost of your chosen piece.

Currently the Artisan Collection is available for wholesale orders on a limited basis (not sale or return). If you have a gallery, independant shop or large project and you'd like to find out more, contact me at lucy@arratextiles.co.uk.
  • Can I cancel my Workshop booking?
Workshops are refundable within 30 days of purchase, minus any card and payment transaction/ processing fees. After 30 days from purchase date workshops are non refundable unless there is a waiting list or someone is able to take the place. All workshop refunds will be minus any card or payment transaction/processing fees. Workshops booked through Eventbrite are organised by the respective venues and I have no control over refunds, cancellations or added booking fees. If a workshop has to be rescheduled due to a situation beyond our control eg. local Covid restrictions, inclement weather conditions etc. then I will work with you to find a new date, you will not lose your place on a workshop! If you or one of your close contact tests positive for Covid-19 or has contact with someone who suspects they may have Covid-19 in the 10 days before your workshop is due to start please let me know as soon as possible and we can reschedule for a later date. You will not lose your place and there will be no extra charges but I'd like for everyone including myself to feel comfortable and be safe during the workshop.
